My Studio

Picasso quote and pink flowers.

Every time I clean up my studio, I feel like I should celebrate by throwing a party or at the least do a little happy dance. It feels so good to start with a clean slate before launching into the next project. Just for fun, I’m sharing how my studio looks right now. If you’re new to the site, I hope you will come back and visit often.

My studio is bright, cheerful and the place I go to when I want to reflect, design, experiment and basically make a big mess. It’s also full of projects such as the curvy chair slipcover behind the desk.

Another slipcover project is the love seat positioned in front of the desk which forms a quaint conversation area and doesn’t take up much space. I still have enough room left over to paint or reupholster furniture.

The love seat is not just for looks. I actually use it quite a bit and every once in a while find the dogs lounging on it. They have such good taste, or maybe it’s the comfortable pillows they like. I can’t decide.

Organizing A Studio

My work space consists of a desk, two filing cabinets, a wire mesh storage table and a shelf tower. I can say without a doubt creating a studio and work space was one of my best decisions, and it certainly keeps my projects from taking over other rooms.

Gallery Wall

I love sitting at this desk with my gallery wall on one side and the inspiration board on the other. You might say my studio evolves as I do.

Handy white ledges on the gallery wall hold books, trinkets and art. I’m thinking about adding another row, but I’m still in no rush to fill the wall. My idea of collecting is to find pieces that have special meanings I can relate to, not just to fill space.

One new addition to the gallery wall is the ticking striped antler mount. It was hanging on a wall downstairs looking neglected, until I decided to repaint the wood plaque and cover the leather with fabric. I’m not sure the husband has noticed yet, but I’m sure he would approve.

How To Find A Space Just For You

Sometimes it’s not easy carving out a space for yourself, but if this is something you’re longing for, look around your home for a potential spot.  A few things to consider…

Once you claim your spot, make it an inspirational space.

Thanks for letting me share my studio with you today for more ideas click on the Craft Storage Solutions And Organizing Ideas post.  Hope to see you again soon!

Cheers!
