Lemon Lime Scone Recipe

Easy to bake these lemon lime scones.

Every time I bake-up a batch of sweets, I think of the quote by Oscar Wilde, “I can resist everything except temptation”. I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time passing up fresh scones, especially this lemon lime scone recipe which is soft, crumbly and easy to make.

Lemon Lime Scone Recipe

 

Start with A basic scone recipe of ingredients:

For Lemon Lime Scones add the following:

Pre-heat oven 425ºF.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl.

Next add butter to the flour mixture. Blend with a pastry cutter or a fork until the flour mixture looks crumbly. (A food processor or mixer with paddle attachment works great too.)

Add sugar. (I use 1/3 cup sugar because I like my scones a wee bit sweeter.)

Next add the lime zest, lemon curd and milk. Stir to combine.

Drop dough from a large spoon on a parchment lined baking pan. Yields 12 to 16 scones.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly brown.

Special note: For achieving the best zest of lemons or limes, I suggest using a microplane grater. It’s a very handy kitchen utensil. Use it for zesting citrus and grating hard cheeses or vegetables. (A link is provided at the bottom of the post.)

As you can see in the photo above, I got carried away with the lime zest. I used about half in the recipe which seemed about right. Then I sprinkled the rest on top before baking. So fresh and fragrant I can’t help myself!

 

 

Serve scones with your favorite jam or honey, and to enhance that wonderful citrus flavor try orange marmalade. YUM!
