How To Make A Wall Organizer

Finding new ways to stay organized can be a fun challenge. Let me show you how I made a simple wall organizer, to keep frequently used items at the ready.

When I created the post, Organizing The Kitchen Pantry in January, I found these modern looking stainless steel clothespins as I was shopping for jars and baskets. The Container Store is one of my favorite places to shop for brilliant organizing solutions.

Follow these simple steps to create your own letter wall organizer.

Supplies:

MDF or wooden letter
wire stainless steel clothes pins
paint and paint brush
pencil
plastic coated wire, twist ties or zip ties
drill and drill bit
pitcher hangers
felt or rubber stick on pads

steps:

Attach picture hangers and felt pads, on the back of the letter. The felt pads will protect the wall from getting scratched and add space between the letter and wall.

2. Paint the letter to match your decor and let dry.

3. Decide on the spacing of the wire stainless steel clothespins, and make a small mark on each side of the clothespins with a pencil for the drill holes.

4. Drill holes large enough for wires to fit through. I used a 3/16″ drill bit.

5. Thread the wire through the center of the clothes pin then through the drill holes.

6. Twist the wire on the back side tightly to secure each of the clothespins.

There are two things I really love about this project. First, I love any excuse to use large letters. Second, the stainless steel clothespins are pulling double duty as hooks and as clips, which makes the wall organizer more versatile.

I’m using the wall organizer in the laundry room for the dog leashes, a hat, an extra door key and mail. Having a designated spot for frequently used items is an easy way to stay organized. The wall organizer could also be used on a gallery wall for photos or cards. There are lots of possibilities here!
