Looking for ways to bring the outdoors in? How about creating a garden tablescape with herbs for the family to enjoy. While picking up a few essentials at the grocery store, I was lucky to find a few plants in their outdoor display. I can’t wait to add lavender and cilantro to my patio herb container. Before planting these fragrant beauties outside though, we’re going to enjoy them in a pretty table setting.

Buying herbs and flowers reminds me of the quote from Audrey Hepburn, “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow”. It’s a reminder for me to take action, and have a positive outlook for the future.
Plants are such an easy way to breath life into a room, or even a temporary tablescape such as this one. For more plant suggestions see the post, Ideas For Decorating With Plants.
Garden Tablescape With Herbs
My tablescape starts with things that I already have, but using them in a different way. A nubby hemp table runner with lots of interesting texture folds in half to fit our small round table. It’s a good neutral color and goes well with the braided placemats.
I set the table for brunch with my classic white dishes, champaign flutes and soft grey cloth napkins. Of course we are using my grandmothers mismatch silverware too. I’m the third generation to use it, and when I say we use it everyday, we really do.

A bucket holding the lavender and the little terra-cotta pots are more items I’m reusing in different ways. I love the willy-nilly placement of the pots, filling some of them with springs of rosemary and thyme from the patio.
Hiding the cilantro plastic containers in paper bags has to be my best trick and so fancy too. Talk about an easy solution!
