Did you catch my last post on Using Peel And Stick Wallpaper In Bathroom Cabinets and drawers? Well that’s what prompted this post. With the cabinets and drawers empty for installing wallpaper, it was my opportunity for rearranging and cleaning out.
Why does it seem that the busier we are, the more stuff multiplies and accumulates. I can’t tell you how great it feels to get rid of expired medicines, old makeup and the general stuff that we never seem to use anymore. Every drawer has extra space that wasn’t there before and I hope to keep it that way.
You will see that I’m using all kinds of containers in different sizes and materials. Some I’ve had for a while, but are still in good condition, and some are new.
When it comes to arranging bathroom cabinets and drawers, I start by grouping like things together. Our needs are all a little bit different, but this is how I break it down into categories.
- makeup
- skin care
- oral care
- nail care
- first aid
- medicines
- hair care
- cleaning products
- towels
- sheets
- tissue
- blankets
This is a long list, but I’m including the linen closet since it is part of our bathroom storage.
Plastic Vs. Cloth Bins
For many items such as cleaning products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, makeup, skin and hair products, I much prefer clear plastic bins and trays.
Plastic bins are easy to arrange, come in a variety of sizes, and contain spills or leaks of liquid products. Plus they are easy to clean and sanitize, so they get bonus points for that.
Right now you might be thinking I have the most boring makeup drawer, and yes you are probably right. After throwing all that old stuff away, I realize this looks like a lazy girls makeup drawer. I think my daily makeup routine may need some improvement LOL!
Boring or not this is my favorite drawer for organizing. The small individual plastic trays are easy to rearrange, categorize and keep clean.
Last year while we were in the middle of our bathroom renovation I ordered some pretty cloth bins. As it turns out, they may look nice, but they’re just not as practical. I will continue using them as long as they look clean, but I know that eventually I will replace them with the same type of plastic bins.
One exception may be the wide cloth bin holding my hairdryer and straightener. For now I’m happy with how it functions, because everything lays out neatly and the cords don’t seem to be a problem.
So what about those large cloth bins sitting on the linen closet shelves? Well those still have my 100% seal of approval. That’s where I store sheets, towels, throw blankets and bathroom tissue.
They are light weight and easy to pull down and the labels on the front helps The Mister find the extra towels. 😉

Cabinet Pull Out Bins
A skinny stack of wire pull out bins are my solution for organizing the cabinet under the sink. Over the counter meds have so many different shapes and sizes to manage, but this is the easiest way I have found to contain them.
Glass containers
Large apothecary type glass containers in the linen closet are definitely an indulgence of mine. I love their pretty shapes and being able to see their contents.
Of course they look lovely on the counter too, but I’m trying to keep the counters clutter free for easy cleaning.
Towel Rack and Shelf
A small towel rack with a shelf is all we need for organizing hand towels between the sinks. It’s not a container but it still necessary for storage. The rack takes up a large portion on this angled wall, and makes good use of an awkward space.
A heated rack takes care of bath towels by the shower, so we don’t need any other racks in the this bathroom.
