Decorating The Christmas Tree

In our house decorating the Christmas tree is cause for celebration. This is the first tree we’ve had in a while due to our rambunctious dog, Angus. He definitely set limits on the holiday decorating the last few years, but I think we are ready to resume our festive traditions once again. Keeping fingers crossed!

I have a fun tree to decorate with vertical space between the branches allowing room for larger ornaments, such as the glitter covered houses I made. Other new additions include beautiful silver and gold mercury glass ornaments and finials. They have a vintage feel adding lots of sparkle.

My favorite find this year are the plaid ribbons. If you are new to my blog, you may not know I have a passion for plaid. I’m drawn to plaid, like a moth to a flame and look for opportunities to incorporate bits of plaid whenever I can. Check out the post from last year Decorating Christmas In Plaid for lots of ideas from hearth to table.

Long before I ever thought about starting a blog, I painted the “believe” rocking horse sign. It usually hangs on the inside of the front door but I like the festive touch it adds to the tree.

Here’s a tip:

If you have old ornaments that need updating you might want to try painting them. The same metallic wax, I used in the project DIY Pewter Mirror Frame, gave these jingle bells a whole new look. Keep scrolling to see the before and after.

Inside the tree is a great place to display unexpected things. An old Charles Dickens book is tucked between the branches adding a charming touch, in spite of its worn appearance.

Thank you so much for joining me today and letting me share our Christmas tree. More projects to come this week.

Cheers!
