I’m so happy you’re stopping by for our Christmas home tour in green and white. The key to decorating this year is fresh bundles of greenery in all the right places. If you are looking for ideas for mantels, garlands, simple vignettes and of course, Christmas trees, then get comfortable and enjoy the tour.

Christmas Home Tour In Green And White
The tour starts in the entry with table top trees, a vintage lantern, sparkly garlands and paper snowflakes. I’m seeing tons of paper sack snowflakes everywhere on IG and Pinterest, and just had to make a few. They really make a big impact and fill spaces where you want to display them.
The mini trees look a little more festive this year sitting in glass bowls and new green satin ribbon. Of course fairy lights makes the whole scene look magical.
Here’s a tip: Did you know you can paint artificial trees? Just use a chip brush to dab a small amount of white chalk craft paint on the top of each limb and pine cone. It really brightens and highlights the character of these mini trees.
One last touch in the entry is fresh greenery draping across the tops of the big prints. Clear plastic hooks on the top of the frame keeps the branches in place. 😉
Christmas In The Family Room
In the family room, the mantel and tree decorations are inspired by the snowy watercolor scene over the fireplace. I already gave a sneak peek in the post, Christmas Mantel With Jingle Bell Garlands, last week including a little history of the painting.
Since then the addition of fresh greenery brings the outdoors in with woodsy aromas. Amazing to see the difference in the before and after photos with that simple addition.
This year instead of traditional plaid ribbon on the tree, I’m using narrow navy and gray velvet ribbons on the tips of the longer branches.
There’s just something about velvet that’s pretty, but unassuming. I like the casual way the ribbon hangs down and it also adds another layer of texture on the tree.
Our family tree features lots of beaded snowflakes, mercury glass, and old family favorites like the wood nutcrackers. I can’t seem to stick to a particular theme, but year we do have more green and white ornaments than in years past.
The most inexpensive new addition to the tree are the clear plastic ornaments. Just a dab of Mod Podge and a sprinkle of iridescent glitter gives them a frosty look that sparkles as the lights shine through them.
Simple Gift Wrappings
Can you believe we’re still reusing the ticking gift boxes from three years ago? Who would have thought that ticking, reindeer and black would go together, but they do. This a first for me to use black wrapping paper, but just look how pretty the green velvet ribbon and greenery stand out.
I love using satin and velvet ribbon, which is my way of creating an elegant looking gift without all the fuss. Plus I’ll reuse the ribbon in so many different ways, so the cost is worth it.
Poinsettia Arrangement
Just a few weeks ago this vintage French zinc bowl was full of mini pumpkins and now it’s featuring poinsettias. In the center are two small poinsettias and one funky green plant I found at the nursery.
Around the plants are pieces of sheet moss, some fresh pine cuttings and pinecones. If you are wondering what’s under the sheet moss it is crumpled pieces of paper sacks. When the plants need watering it’s easy to lift them out, give them a drink and replace them.
Living Room Christmas Home Tour In Green And White
In the living room I’m displaying a forest of white bottle brush trees, which takes up the whole ottoman. It’s so easy to create a bottlebrush vignette when using a tray, but there’s a trick I’ll share with you. At the base of each tree I’m using a piece of clear tape to keep the trees from accidentally falling over. Then I cover the tray with a sprinkle of artificial snow which hides the tape.
I’m using more fresh greenery in the living room nestling some on the tray with the bottle brush trees and in two arrangements. The first arrangement is a simple pine branch in one of the up-cycled white vases on the end table. To see the before of these two vases click on my post Thrift Store Vase Makeover With Paint.
My favorite arrangement on the tour today is a mix of burgundy hypericum berries and evergreen branches. I feel like this is the perfect color combo to sit on the secretary desk. As long as I remember to change out the water, it should last a couple of weeks.
