With all the Christmas decorating complete, it’s time for entertaining with a Christmas holiday brunch tablescape. I’m including many of my seasonal favorites such as a mini gingerbread house, fresh greenery, a jingle bell wreath and a little bit of plaid. You may notice I’m also continuing my green and white theme which goes so well in our home.
Christmas Holiday Brunch Tablescape
When I decorate for the family, I enjoy adding my personal touch to create a happy and relaxing atmosphere. By using many of my favorite things and keeping the decorating simple, we can concentrate on sharing old stories over a delicious meal.
Gingerbread Centerpiece
As with most table settings I’m starting with the centerpiece. To make one like this, begin with a wreath then, then add a cake pedestal in the center and then place a jar on top. Create a snow scene by adding a layer of sugar, then the gingerbread house and last a couple of trees.
To make the wreath look lush and full mix fresh cypress in with the faux pine. I love using fresh cypress cuttings, because it drapes over and around the other greenery so beautifully. For more ideas see my post How To Update A Wreath With Greenery.
I have to admit that my skills at creating a gingerbread house are laughable, but I’m getting into the spirit anyway. This one is actually graham crackers cut to size. See my post Christmas In The Kitchen for the tutorial.
Making the trees are just as much fun as the mini A-frame house by using leftover pieces of graham crackers. I love their snowy tops with piles of icing.
The last few touches to the centerpiece candles for sparkle and warmth and pompom ribbon for fun.
Plaid Place Settings
It wouldn’t be Christmas without plaid. At each place setting I’m using our classic white dishes mixing in the plaid plates. This is one of my favorite plaid patterns, unfortunately it’s no longer available. Yes I’m kicking myself for not buying more a few years ago. Live and learn.
I’m also using my grandmother’s mismatched silverware which are true antiques now. I love using family pieces which makes our get togethers all the more special.
I have to point out the vintage French Champagne glasses too. These are just perfect for sipping mimosas and gives us one more reason to linger at the table.
