Winter Whites And Neutrals

Decorating with winter whites and neutrals.

This year I’m enjoying the feeling of being enveloped by winter whites and neutrals more than usual. It must be the new fresh paint from the kitchen radiating positive vibes to the adjoining areas. Hey, if it works, you just have to run with it.

In my favorite chair by the fireplace, I switched out the plaid pillow cover with one that has wide stripes. The stripe is bold however the neutral colors are subtle.

The crate with casters below is one of the few things I have not stained or painted. Sometimes it takes a lot of restraint to leave things in their original condition. The wine and cheese crate was one of the first projects I blogged about, and I still love the raw wood.

On the mantle, I added a few rolled up maps and land surveys tied with string in clear cylinder vases. They add a bit of interest next to the landscape print. At the same time their neutral color keeps them from being distracting. It just goes to show you, almost anything can be turned into a vase filler.

Year around, I keep green plants in almost every room. This little beauty is called Star of Bethlehem and has bright white blooms.

The navy accent wall is the perfect backdrop to all the neutral colors in the room.

I have also kept neutral colors in my seasonal watercolor art. I’m thinking about painting a spring botanical next.  Cream striped ribbon was added to soften the clipboard and to add a bit of whimsy. What do you think?

I hope you will surround yourself with the things that make you feel happy and have a beautiful weekend.

Cheers!
