Winter Decorating

Winter vignette on the coffee table.

Happy New Year! Wow the holidays seemed to fly by, and now it’s time to nestle in for the winter months. As you can see all the holiday decor is packed away and I’m enjoying simple winter decorating around the house. It only takes a few wintry vignettes here and there to make the house feel warm and inviting.

On the coffee table I used a small tray to hold wintry accents.  I like having a minimal amount of accessories on the coffee table to allow space to play cards, Scrabble or dominos.

Did you notice the vase of snowy pinecones? These are the same ones I used to in a garland to decorate the mantel. Click here to see how to make snowy pinecones, that you can display now and next Christmas

Here are a few winter decorating tips I’m sharing today…

Do you have a favorite spot for reading during the winter months?  The chair and ottoman is one of mine. I rearranged the furniture so I could prop my feet up in front of the fireplace. I’m calling dibs on the chair!

Winter decorating in the family room is all about balancing light and dark colors. The darker tones emanate warmth while the lighter colors create space. The same idea works in the kitchen.  The cabinets and counters are dark so I use white accents to lighten the space.

With the Christmas clutter removed from the kitchen counters, I have room for a few white accents. The white serving platter is too large to fit into any of my cabinets so I keep it out as a nice backdrop, plus it’s at the ready with I need it.

You know how much I love to decorate with dishes, so I created a small vignette using a wooden crate, white plates and new cloth napkins.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I would love hear how you decorate for winter.

Cheers!
