Updating Pantry Storage

Chalkboard pantry sign.

Updating pantry storage is all about using available space. The inside of the pantry door has lots of potential as well as the small area below the spice racks. My solution was adding a storage rack to the door and two small wire racks on the wall.

Even though the pantry stays reasonably organized, there’s always a need for flexible space with all the miscellaneous items that we buy seasonally. That’s where the extra storage on the door will really come in handy.

The inside of the door was only used to hang aprons and shopping bags. To make better use of the space, I decided to look for a utility door rack.

Door Storage

The mesh baskets hang on a central support that is attached to a bracket at the top and bottom of the door. When I want to reorganize, I can move the baskets up or down to accommodate the height of items being stored.

In addition to food items, the pantry stores a variety of other kitchen essentials.

Pantry Storage

Since this is the hardest working room in the house, it has to be organized. Wire shelves extend up to the ceiling where lesser used items are kept. Items that are used daily are gathered within reach.

Spice Racks

The new racks I added for larger spice containers and lids are actually designed as cabinet door racks, but they work just as well attached to the wall.

Storage Containers

Last year I reorganized the pantry shelves by adding clear storage jars and containers. I’m happy to report the system has worked great. One quick glance, and I have a visual of the dry goods on hand without the bulky boxes taking up room. See the Organizing A Kitchen Pantry post.

For me staying organized saves money. No more throwing away food that has gone stale or out-of-date.

I hope I have given you lots of ideas of how you can address your storage needs. If you have any questions just leave a comment for me. Thanks for stopping by!

Cheers!
