Thanksgiving Table With Plaid And Copper Accents

Copper leaf laurel on a book page with an acorn.

This years’ Thanksgiving table with plaid and copper accents will have you mad for plaid. I try not to be too obvious about my love for plaid, but I look for any excuse to decorate with it especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Anyone else looking forward to planning their Thanksgiving table? Keep reading for ideas you can use too.

Thanksgiving Table With Plaid And Copper Accents

On the table I’m using a square of plaid fabric on top of a pinstripe linen table cloth. I think you’ll agree the rich colors in the fabric compliment the variety of pumpkin colors on the table.

For a more casual look forget about hemming the fabric and just fray the edges by pulling a few threads.

The Centerpiece

The green pumpkin with its gnarly stem takes center stage on a bed of seeded eucalyptus stems, by elevating it on a white cake stand. Our pumpkin may be a little lopsided but its bubbling over with personality.

Notice the arrangement is low enough for everyone to see across the table, so no worries about moving things when we sit down to eat.

Down the center of the table are the striped pumpkins I picked up earlier this fall mixed with eucalyptus stems and candles. Using delicate eucalyptus leaves balances the bold plaid pattern on the table, and also shares the same color green as the big pumpkin.

With a minimum of table decor like using a cake stand and natural elements, I don’t have to worry too much about storage. The centerpiece was purposely created using natural items that will be turned into compost or mulch afterwards.

The Place Settings

For the place settings, I created copper leaf laurels on book pages which rest on top of classic white plates and wood veneer chargers. Oh and acorns are the crowning touch. Simple, elegant and rustic is the look I’m going for.

The laurels give the table that modern vintage look. Plus I just adore the way the bright copper blends in with the blues, brown and grays of the plaid. To see the tutorial, click on How To Create A Copper Leaf Laurel.

I think the laurel design is pretty on it own, but it would be so pretty to add initials, a name or a phrase. For a different look make the laurel with gold or silver leaf and on colored craft paper. Just think of the possibilities!

The mix of napkins are in soft tones of neutral and white linen. It’s not a perfect match with the tablecloth but still blends in well. Each place setting is set with vintage silverware mixed with elk handle knives for a masculine touch.
