Looking for fresh ideas on how to style an end table? Last weekend while spring cleaning, I had fun playing around with three different looks on the end table next to the sofa. Plus this gave me an excellent excuse to use some pretty flowers I picked up the grocery store.

All three looks arrange neatly on a wicker tray for a pretty springtime or summer display. I’m also sharing a new look with the blue and white ceramic lamp in here. For a similar look from the same source see this lamp.
Before adding a tray to a table top think about how much surface area you want to cover. I want to have enough room to be able to set down a cocktail or a mug of coffee. The side table is 24″ square so there’s plenty of room for a tray with space left over.

Using a light colored tray brightens up the dark table top while providing loads of interesting texture. Books in the bottom of the tray create a platform or flat surface for the lamp and accessories.
How To Style An End Table
When styling an end table I select objects of differing heights and stick with groupings of three or five. This is the easiest way I know how to style an end table but it works.
Starting with the most simple arrangement is a small bouquet of yellow roses in a clear glass, a small round bowl and a ceramic table lamp. I can easily change the look by substituting a plant or faux flower arrangement for the small bouquet.
Other found objects I like to use include vintage crocks, and metal items such as the horse figurine and a large skeleton key. It’s alway fun to shop my home and experiment with new combinations.
Dried lavender works well for a natural touch instead of fresh flowers.
My favorite look right now is the flower bouquet and cloche arrangement sitting on top of a bird book. Inside the cloche are vintage field glasses with a leather case, an Audubon bird print and a French stoneware bottle.

I love to watch birds coming into the feeders in our back yard and while out walking my dog. Rainy days are slowing my walks lately but this seems like a good way to bring the outdoors in.
