Today I’m sharing three easy ways to style floating shelves. Over the weekend I avoided house cleaning to have fun styling new shelves with different vintage combinations. Putting shelves in this tiny space next to the kitchen table is long overdue and I’m so happy to finally have them installed.

The shelves are only 18 inches wide which may not give me a lot of display room, but I don’t mind that. I mostly just want a little space to arrange some collectables. Plus, having a spot to rotate artwork for seasonal changes is something I’m looking forward to.
Three Easy Ways To Style Floating Shelves
As you will see, I don’t really have a formula per se for shelf arranging. I’m just focusing on creating groups with odd numbers, varying the heights on each shelf, and including interesting shapes that catch the eye.
It’s a work in process, but I can share three types of shelf arrangements I’m trying out for the kitchen space.
Style Floating Shelves With A Theme
Shopping for display items in the kitchen is super easy, because I can just pull items out of cabinets to use. I have an array of vintage pressed glass ice cream dishes that look pretty cute together. They remind me of summer get togethers and homemade ice cream.
On the top shelf I have a clipboard displaying a strawberry ice cream cone watercolor. Next to that are some interesting utensils in a jar including an ancient ice cream scoop, that still works by the way.
A little succulent adds a pop of green in a cute little container, which I love because of its interesting shape.
Seasonal Styling
Spring is just right around the corner, so I’m thinking of botanicals and birds and being outdoors. You might recognize some of these items from my post Winter Inspired Botanical Vignette. I just love this sweet little bird!
A botanical watercolor adds height to the shelf and balances my small creamer collection.
Style Floating Shelves With An ironstone Collection
Alright I have to admit, this is my favorite arrangement so far. The neutral tones of the ironstone pieces plus the wee bit of color in the watercolor makes this one seem extra special.
I’m in the process of collecting ironstone jars and so far found some really good pieces. Of course collecting is all about the hunt, and the thrill of finding little treasures when I least expect.
Did you notice the ironstone plate in all three arrangements? It’s just an odd piece that looks good as a backdrop, so I’m thinking it will have a permanent home here.
