BLACKBERRY BOURBON SMASH COCKTAIL RECIPE
Try a delicious and refreshing cocktail with blackberries and bourbon as a seasonal treat.
- 3 to 5 blackberries
- 1 ounce simple syrup or blackberry simple syrup
- 3 ounces of bourbon
- 4 to 5 dashes of cardamon bitters
Recipe Notes:
Of course you make this cocktail with or without blackberry simple syrup. I recommend trying it with your own homemade blackberry simple syrup to enhance those flavors in your cocktail. Here's a recipe for infusing your simple syrup with blackberries.
BLACKBERRY SIMPLE SYRUP
Stir together 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of blackberries in a a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, then simmer until all the sugar dissolves.
Remove from heat and mash blackberries. When completely cool, pour through a sieve into a bowl. Then you can transfer into a jar or bottle with a lid and store in the fridge for a couple of weeks.
If you prefer, make a small batch with 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup blackberries.
